Distributing Food at the Soccerplex

On Tuesday, November 25th, the Upcounty Hub distributed their Annual Thanksgiving food at the Soccerplex from 4-7pm. It was chilly and raining most of the time.

Many of us were there – Ani Dara, Anne K, Jacob, Noreen, Tara, Wib, and Courtney, as well as Sarah and Mike from the Poolesville Little Free Pantry who also came to participate. We worked side by side with the Hub staff and volunteers and the Police Department until the last clients were served.

There was a non-stop flow of cars starting way before 4 pm, waiting to receive the various foods – Thanksgiving type foods, including the canned yams from Buddhist Relief, stuffing, rolls, produce, eggs, and a choice of turkey or chicken. We think about 350 families came through. Besides filling their cars with the foods, we were able to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving.

Without Jetsunma, there would be no Buddhist Relief. Without Jetsunma, we wouldn’t be out there – especially on a bone-chilling rainy day for three hours – to benefit so many who truly appreciate receiving all the food. Thank you always, Jetsunma, Precious Lama, for guiding us.
