A Miracle in Timing
On a recent Saturday, Anne K. and Dara of KPC Buddhist Relief met Jean Pierre and Mama to collect three freezers — a generous offering from our founder, Jetsunma Ahkön Lhamo — and deliver them to Mama Mona, a community organizer connected through Mariama Sy, a volunteer coordinator who leads the West African refugee community KPC Buddhist Relief serves.

For the first time, on April 1, 2026, Ani Dara and Noreen delivered food staples to Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services (LARS) located in Laurel, Prince George's County, using our beautiful and well-received KPC Buddhist Relief van.
Empty Bowls 2026: A Community Comes Together
The results are in — and they are extraordinary.
This year's Empty Bowls event was a resounding success: more than 400 tickets sold, over 500 handmade bowls created by students and local potters, more than 50 gallons of soup donated, and over $10,000 raised for hunger relief in our community.

This week we have done direct outreach to those most in need of warmth, comfort and nourishment by going promptly to a Montgomery County warming center and temporary emergency housing center set up for the homeless.

Distributing Food at the Soccerplex
On Tuesday, November 25th, the Upcounty Hub distributed their Annual Thanksgiving food at the Soccerplex from 4-7pm. It was chilly and raining most of the time.
2025 Winter Clothing Drive
Help Keep Families Warm This Winter!
KPC Buddhist Relief is raising $5,000 to provide 200 winter clothing sets — hats, gloves, scarves, and sweat sets — for families and individuals in need.
