Grass Fed Beef, Perfect for Soups
On January 17, volunteers delivered food and warm clothing to Miriam’s Kitchen. Pamela, one of the sous chefs, was especially grateful for the 60 pounds of beef from Stryker Farm in Wind Gap, PA. This special protein, offered by Jetsunma, is particularly beneficial because the beef is grass-fed and comes from a small family farm where livestock have “unrestricted access to a wild habitat of pasture and forest land.”
Pamela explained that during this time of year, healthy proteins like this are excellent for soups, which the chefs frequently prepare. She also shared how Buddhist Relief’s deliveries of fresh food inspire the chefs at Miriam’s Kitchen to create special cuisines from different regions of the world. Imagine how unexpected and uplifting it must be for those coming for sustenance to be served such thoughtful, flavorful meals. It’s a powerful reminder that they are seen, appreciated, respected, and loved.
Due to the extreme cold, many more people are coming to Miriam’s Kitchen seeking warmth. To help meet this need, KPC, under Jetsunma’s direction, was able to offer 33 cold-weather puffer jackets to help keep guests warm.
