Coming Full Circle…. Shepherd’s Table Delivery

Recently, Buddhist Relief volunteers Rudy, Anne K and Anne M delivered 575 lbs of fresh produce, dry goods, and meat to Shepherd’s Table. Our produce included broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, carrots, and cabbage. Dry goods included butter, waffles, coffee, creamer, sugar, stevia, ketchup, hot sauce, and salad dressings. We also delivered ground beef.

As Rudy and Mohamed were unloading, Shepherd’s Table’s new chef, Daniel Centeno, came out to introduce himself. He’s excited to be joining the staff and will be handling food orders from us. Having learned about our work from Chef Christina and Chef Gary, he expressed deep gratitude, saying the fresh food we provide helps round out their meals and makes them truly wonderful.
Hear Daniel’s story here….

Daniel shared that he was homeless for two years after high school before becoming a chef, traveling from kitchen to kitchen. Thirteen years later, he started teaching cooking and eventually found his way to Shepherd’s Table. He understands where their guests are coming from, what their needs are, and is committed to providing them with quality food.

When Anne K. showed him the large bag of cinnamon we had brought, his eyes lit up. He immediately told us he would use it to make a tomato sauce with our fresh tomatoes for a fish marinade. He loves spices and diverse cooking. Rudy also shared photos of the mushrooms he forages, and Daniel was excited about the idea of cooking with fresh mushrooms in the future.

Though Daniel was in the middle of preparing the next meal, he was gracious enough to come out and was very happy to finally meet KPC Buddhist Relief.

It is through Jetsunma’s generosity that we continue to connect with like-minded, compassionate people, helping our partners while learning more ways to be of service.

We welcome everyone and encourage you to become a Friend of KPC Buddhist Relief.
