First Baptist Church deliveries met with heartfelt gratitude

Buddhist Relief made two deliveries in April to the First Baptist of Church of Silver Spring. Both were met with incredible gratitude as their circumstances continue to get more and more challenging. Together we continue to explore different ways to help them and to share resources. Buddhist Relief's support, provided regularly, gives them an enormous boost - they never fail to tell us that.

The items available from the Capital Area Food Bank are inconsistent. Sarah said they are paying more at the food bank and the food bank is hurting as well, because so many of their grants have been cut. They sent out a letter notifying all those they supply about this situation.

First Baptist's number of families is staying around 60. But when the church starts its chef classes the number will rise. The students come from foreign countries to take these classes and are learning a trade to be able to get jobs. They don't have much money and are invited to use the pantry every Friday. There will be about 15 of them, increasing the total number to at least 75.

Sarah talked about how the cost of groceries is skyrocketing for us all. That for those who are in need it has never been like this. She talked to her congregation trying to get increased support, telling them that they need help with money now so they can buy from the food bank. She asked people to consider buying a couple of extra items when they shop.

All of this highlights the importance of Buddhist Relief's consistent support and sharing of resources.

She repeated that they thank us more than we will ever know. We keep them going.
