Making a Ton of Difference - Upcounty Hub
Thank you to our generous donors! Your kindness is making a real difference!
KPC Buddhist Relief kicked off the year by restocking the Upcounty Hub's Choice Pantry for January with 1,259 pounds of food staples from Aldi, including much-needed items like mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, salad dressings, honey, vegetable oil, pickles, corned beef hash, sugar, mac & cheese, apples, pasta sauces, and green tea. The Hub staff gratefully accepted the donation and immediately began restocking the shelves.
In addition, we coordinated a 1,032-pound delivery from EMD Sales Inc., International Foods in Baltimore. EMD specializes in international foods that are in high demand by the local Hispanic community, such as Valentina hot sauce, Latino instant oatmeal brands, and a variety of pastas and dry beans.
Despite challenges from the snowstorm, the Choice Pantry at the Hub remained open for four days during the week of January 6th, serving 225 families in need. This marks a significant increase from last January, when 190 families used the pantry. Each household has at least three or more members, highlighting the growing demand for food assistance in the Upcounty area.
Recognizing this urgent need, we checked in with the Hub and delivered an additional 132 pounds of condiments—especially mayonnaise—on January 8th.
